Bank of America commits $250 billion to U.S. infrastructure expansion

Bank of America is steering $250 billion into domestic infrastructure projects through July 2027, targeting a surge in demand for AI-ready data centers, energy networks, and transportation systems. This initiative arrives as major Wall Street firms aggressively pivot toward large-scale financing for industries deemed vital to national economic resilience.

Bank of America commits $250 billion to U.S. infrastructure expansion

The bank’s newly formed Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative focuses on three core pillars: digital computing assets, renewable energy storage, and core transport networks. Karen Fang, the bank's global head of infrastructure and sustainable finance, noted that the scale of these interconnected sectors requires integrated capital solutions that span both public and private markets.

This deployment window is set for an 18-month period beginning January 1, 2026. The move follows similar multi-trillion dollar commitments from competitors like Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan Chase, which have recently prioritized defense, manufacturing, and technology infrastructure. According to Fang, these projects are essential for long-term job creation and broader economic growth, with construction loans typically transitioning into long-term debt once facilities become operational. The bank aims to leverage its primary market lending and advisory services to ensure these capital-intensive projects reach completion.
