Senate Democrats Push for Accountability on West Bank Settler Violence

Senator Bernie Sanders condemned the status quo, stating that the United States can no longer bankroll these actions or overlook the impunity granted to violent settlers. Senator Elizabeth Warren, also backing the measure, criticized the administration for reversing sanctions on individuals linked to such attacks. By filing the measure as a privileged resolution, the senators have established a mechanism to force a floor vote if the Senate Foreign Relations Committee does not act within 10 days. The move follows recent findings from the Carter Center, which identified settler attacks as the primary cause of Palestinian injuries in the region, noting that displacement rates have doubled this year compared to the previous three-year average.
