Trump Escalates Rhetoric as US Forces Strike Iran

President Donald Trump warned Iran that a potential retaliation for new US military strikes would be met with an attack of unprecedented scale. As American forces targeted Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps sites on Tuesday, the president declared that little would remain of the nation if conflict continues to escalate.

Trump Escalates Rhetoric as US Forces Strike Iran

The warning, posted to Truth Social, came shortly after the US military resumed its bombing campaign against Iranian targets. Despite the president’s rhetoric, Iran appeared undeterred, launching a counter-strike of missiles and drones almost immediately following the initial American bombardment. This exchange marks a sharp deterioration in the standoff between the two powers.

Questions regarding the potential use of nuclear weapons surfaced during an Oval Office briefing on Monday. Trump dismissed the inquiry as "stupid," arguing that Iran was already defeated militarily, rendering such force unnecessary. However, analysts remain wary of the administration's shifting posture. Brett Erickson, managing partner at Obsidian Risk Advisors, noted that while previous threats from the president have gone unfulfilled, the current language suggests that high-level destructive options are increasingly being considered.
