The largest share of the projected costs stems from White House renovations, including a luxury ballroom, estimated at $927 million. The committee also flagged $400 million in security upgrades for a private jet gifted by the Qatari government, alongside $100 million for a proposed Triumphal Arch. Smaller, though contentious, outlays include $16 million for the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and $257 million for the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.

To illustrate the scale of this spending, Democrats launched a "Trump Vanity Calculator" to track the opportunity costs of these projects. The report notes that $1.8 billion could instead fund 607 million school lunches or restore SNAP benefits for over 429,000 families. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) criticized the spending as a misuse of funds, arguing that the president is prioritizing personal monuments while American families struggle with rising costs for rent and groceries.

This release arrives as public frustration regarding the economy mounts. A recent CNN survey indicates that only 24% of Americans believe the president maintains the right priorities, while two-thirds of respondents suggest economic conditions have deteriorated under his leadership. With midterm elections six weeks away, these figures provide a focal point for the ongoing debate over fiscal policy and presidential conduct.
