Trump Administration Floats High-Tech Redevelopment Plan for Gaza

A 38-page prospectus circulating within the White House outlines a vision to transform Gaza into a high-tech Mediterranean hub, complete with AI-powered smart cities and luxury resorts. The proposal, dubbed the GREAT Trust, seeks to replace the war-torn territory with a privately-funded economic zone and a US-led multilateral administration.

The plan envisions a decade-long transition, shifting Gaza toward a model of corporate governance. Financial modeling for the project was reportedly conducted by a team formerly associated with the Boston Consulting Group, though the firm has disavowed the work. The proposal offers two paths for the current population: keeping 75% of residents within the territory or facilitating the permanent relocation of up to 500,000 Palestinians to third countries, with a $5,000 incentive for those who choose to leave.

Corporate and Strategic Interests

Central to the blueprint are 10 ambitious megaprojects, including a logistics hub at the site of Rafah, solar energy plants, and an 'Elon Musk Smart Manufacturing Zone.' Major entities, ranging from the Saudi bin Laden Group to Tesla and Amazon, are identified as potential participants in a project projected to generate $4.5 billion in annual revenue. The document highlights that these developments would grant the United States deeper strategic influence in the eastern Mediterranean and secure access to regional mineral resources.

Critics, including former State Department official Josh Paul, have characterized the initiative as a transition from military to corporate colonialism. Journalist Hala Jaber described the vision as 'genocide packaged as real estate.' Despite the high-level meetings involving figures such as Jared Kushner and Tony Blair, the proposal faces profound local resistance. Many Gazans, including survivors of the 1948 Nakba, remain steadfast in their refusal to abandon their homeland, even as the region continues to endure a severe humanitarian crisis and ongoing military operations.
